BMO’s Celebrating Women In Agriculture Award Winner this year is Shannon McArton.

The grain farmer from Dilke has a consulting business and has worked with the Pedigreed Seed Industry, as well as the Livestock Industry managing some events and doing some communications work.

She says winning the award is very humbling adding she’s always been passionate about agriculture and the need to advocate for our business and educate the consumer:

“I think of all the women that went ahead of us who had a much harder task, you know physically and with other challenges to be accepted, to be respected, to be recognized. I see it as recognition of all the hard work that went in for decades before I was even involved.”

She’s volunteered for Agriculture in the Classroom, Agriculture in the City, was on the Board of Directors for Canadian Western Agribition and served as Agribition President in 2007-2008.
