Prairie farmers will soon be able to buy seed, fertilizer, chemical, and now fuel from one company.

Imperial Oil and Viterra reached an agreement this week for Viterra to become the branded re-seller of Esso fuels to agricultural customers in western Canada.

"Viterra is an exclusive re-seller of Esso-branded fuels to industrial and commercial customers in the agricultural markets covered by their sales agreement, this is Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta," explains Imperial Oil spokesperson Jon Harding.

Viterra will also purchase Imperial's bulk fuel assets.

In a statemen, Viterra's Chief Operating Officer for Agri-Products Doug Wonnacott says fuel is a natural fit with Viterra's existing service offerings and business model. He says they plan on bundling it with financing options to assist growers with cash flow.

It's expected the deal will come into effect on December 1st.

"Imperial and Viterra will work together to ensure a smooth transition for customers," says Harding.

Viterra spokespeople were not available to comment.
