Swift Current’s Grade 4 students will have a chance to harvest their produce today as part of an 'Ag in the Classroom' project.

In the spring, about 190 Grade 3 students at the time, planted a variety of vegetables and crops that are used to make one of their favorite meals --- cheeseburger and fries.

Kari Burnett is the Ag Awareness Champion at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Swift Current Office and says it should be a good day:

"Things look pretty good. I think it was a typical year for most farmers where we saw a lot of lodged crops.

Luckily, lots of vegetables look to be out there and we're expecting a good harvest," she said.

Burnett says the site here is just one of 7 food farms this year across the province giving an estimated 1200 students the opportunity to learn more about where their food comes from.
