We are looking for Foster Homes!

  • Being a foster parent to an animal in need of a little TLC can be a very rewarding experience. Some of the homeless animals that come into our Shelter have a hard time adjusting to life at the Shelter while they wait for their new homes. By placing them in a foster home, it allows us to give an interested adopter a better insight into the pet's likes and dislikes, good or bad habits, and its ability to get along with children and other pets. When the animal is adopted out there is a less chance it will be returned to the Shelter for some underlying problem that would go undectected at the Shelter. There are many ways someone can foster an animal. If you are interested in helping, please call the Shelter at 773-1806, or send us an email requesting an application form to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Release of Impounded Animals:

All dogs impounded shall be confined for a period of 5 days and all cats impounded shall be confined for a period of 3 days (including the day the animal is brought into the Shelter), during which time the owner shall have the right to repossess the animal upon paying the Pound Keeper or City License Inspector the amounts set forth for impounding fees, boarding costs and licensing (if necessary).  If an animal is not claimed in those time frames, it becomes the property of the SPCA.

Surrendering an Animal:

There is a fee of $30.00 to surrender an animal to the SPCA.  This fee helps to cover some of the expenses for feeding and caring for the animal during it’s stay at the Shelter.

Hey there, thank you for taking the time to read about me! I am a very friendly cat with so much love to give, I will shower you with as many hugs and kisses as I possibly can. Not much bothers me, I am a very forgiving boy who just wants to be loved more then anything in the whole world. Everyday I pop my head out of my cage to stop and say hello to all the other cats around me, if you have cats I would love to meet them! I am very proud of my soft and shiny coat, I have been making sure it looks fantastic for when my new family comes to adopt me, its not easy being this handsome! Everyone says I have such stunning green eyes, they must be right because some days I catch myself gazing at my own reflection. Overall, I would say I am the perfect gentleman and I will be forever thankful to the family who brings me home, I hope to see you soon!

Hey there, I am a 4 year old handsome male Himalayan with blue eyes that always sparkle! I am friendly with all people, I love to be held close to your chest so I can snuggle into your neck. I came into the shelter with my sister Sherbet, I do get along with other cats but it takes me a little time to accept that I have to share the attention! Not only do I have stunning eyes, I also have a very soft, long coat that I take good care of but I always appreciate a good brush. Himalayans are known for being great companion friends and I promise I will always be loyal to you. I am ready to be adopted, I am just waiting for the perfect family to find me!

Thank you for stopping to read about me! I don`t usually like being the center of attention but I will tell you a little bit about myself ... I am a 6 year old Calico, I find it a little harder to adjust to shelter life, I just want to be in a warm home where I can stretch and relax! After having a cage to myself, I would like to keep in that way .... perhaps my own room with a "do not disturb" sign! If you treat me nicely I will do the same to you, but I am definitely the type of cat to stand up for myself. I am a neat and tidy cat with respect for boundaries, but every once in a while I will crawl onto your lap and remind you how much I love you!

Pet 4

Hi there ... I am Tomika! I am a very independent cat, I`m happy to be pet and cuddled but I also don`t mind being left to enjoy some time alone to relax. I am only 3 years old, but I am already set in my ways, I would much prefer to be in house with no other animals or children, I am not mean ... just an old lady at heart. I was abandoned, so I`m looking for people who are going to be forever loyal to me, I promise I will always be loyal in return. I am a unique cat, you wont find another like me. I am very proud of my calico coat but every so often I need help brushing it to keep it this sleek and shiny. Many of the other younger cats who are also at the shelter are known for being a "little" messier then most, but I take pride in keeping my cage clean, and just spend the day sleeping instead. Hopefully we can meet soon!

Pet 5

Hello! Thank you for stopping to read about me. I am a Himalayan and I am 4 years old, I came into the shelter with my brother Dipstick. I get along very well with other cats, in fact I get along with everyone. I am very friendly but a little shy, it won`t take me long to warm up to you though. I love to cuddle and would probably spend all day trying to please you. I am a very happy cat and not much bothers me, I spend most of my day curled up in my bed dreaming about mice, treats, and finding my furever home. Hopefully we can really meet one day soon!

Pet 6

Hello! if your looking for a energetic and bright eyed cat, that would be me! I will be sure to bring some fun into your house. You cant tell by my photo, but I am a little different to other cats, when I came into the shelter my tail was injured and unfortunately it had to be amputated, this does not slow me down one bit and I have adjusted very well! I like to look on the positive side, I now have no tail to get in the way of my fun and games! When I`m not playing, I like to spend my time cuddling, I would be a fantastic cat for a family with children because I don`t use my claws, I am a gentle and good natured kitty. You can come for a cuddle any day!

(Reduced adoption fee)

There`s no doubt in our minds that Snufflebump is a lover and not a fighter. He adores everthing there is about snuggling, cuddling, tickling and petting. Even after you have petted him for quite a while, he will reach out his paw to catch your hand hoping to bring it back for just a few more pets. He`s great at just flopping over on his side so that you can pet every part of him. He will even stop eating his crunchies if he thinks there are more pets available. All this while, his purr machine is going full tilt ... it never seems to stop. Snufflebump is wating for you - are you waiting for him? We sure hope so!

Jackpot is a sleek black cat with the most gorgeous amber eyes. It`s impossible to know just exactly what he is thinking, so we recommend that you not play poker with him. He can be a little timid until he gets to know you, but once he does, he loves to be held and petted. Once the petting starts, so does the purring and he can purr with the best of them. He loves to have his tummy rubbed and enjoys any, and all, attention he gets. If you`re looking to change your luck, we think Jackpot is just the fellow to do that for you!

Jackpot is the first cat in our "Casino" litter.
