"I was very happy to sign it and very proud they put me in a position to sign it," DeBrusk said. "Ever since I got drafted I kind of wanted to be a Western League guy and that first year I came there my experience was so good that this was one of my main goals signing a contract."

DeBrusk has 19 points in 15 games of Midget AAA hockey this season. He believes his game has benefited from his growth from 5'5 when he was drafted to 5'10 now.

"But with the size and strength I've been getting it's just been going in a lot more for me now. I have had some games where I have been off some but I'm always getting chances, always getting something done basically."

He's the son of former NHLer Louie DeBrusk.
