A Swift Current couple and business have been fined by the Canada Revenue Agency for not filing their taxes.
Joyce and Richard Luker pleaded guilty to failing to file 2007 and 2008 personal income tax returns in Swift Current Provincial Court, and the Swift Current Laundry Basket, of which Richard Luker is a partner, failed to file a GST return for 2008. The three parties received fines totalling $6000.
The CRA says the missing returns were filed prior to the court appearance and the fines must be paid by June. In addition to the court fines, they must also pay the outstanding taxes plus penalties and interest.
