fantuz riders

The CFL free agency period is now underway.

Two of the big names who became free agents at the 11:00am deadline are Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Andy Fantuz, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers Offensive Lineman Brendan Labatte, whom the Riders have reportedly expressed an interest in signing. Both free agents remained available as of 2:00pm.

Running back Wes Cates is also available, after the Riders had announced they would not be offering the six-year veteran a new contract, and is now free to sign with any team.

Meanwhile, a former Rider has found a new home, after wide receiver Cary Koch signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. Koch picked up 400 yards and three touchdowns in his two seasons with the Green and White.

After that, the Riders signed cornerback Paul Woldu, who spent last season with the Montreal Alouettes. The Regina native and University of Saskatchewan product had 29 tackles and three interceptions in his four years with the Als.
