A strong performance on the road has earned Travis Child the WHL Goalie of the Week Award.

Child made 28 saves yesterday to shut out the Saskatoon Blades in their home opener and carry the Swift Current Broncos to a 6-0 victory.

It was the first shut out of Child's WHL career.

The victory helped the Broncos split their home-and-home with the Blades in the first weekend of the regular season.

Child and fellow 19-year-old Taz Burman are still battling for the top job with the Broncos this season.

In 52 career WHL games, Child is 11-20-2-1 with a 3.22 goals-against average and 0.903 save percentage.

He is now nominated for the CHL Goalie of the Week Award as well.

Swift Current is off until Friday when they visit Prince Albert. They host Medicine Hat on Saturday.
