A tough start to the exhibition schedule for the Home Hardware Midget 'AAA' Legionnaires.

Beginning the pre-season on the road, Swift Current fell behind early and ultimately dropped an 8-2 decision to the Generals.

Moose Jaw jumped out in front quickly, striking three times in the first eight minutes of the game.

Before the first period ended though, Josh Pillar put the Legionnaires on the board, trimming the Generals' lead to 3-1.

In the middle frame, Moose Jaw extended the lead to 5-1 before Pillar found the back of the net for the second time, this time coming on the power play.

That, however, would be as close as the Legionnaires would get.

Moose Jaw added two more goals before the end of the second and added one more in the third to round out the scoring.

Shayde Peterson, Dylan Hull, Matthew Christianson and Jackson Sitter all registered an assist for Swift Current in the contest.

In goal, Brandon Wiebe got the start for the Legionnaires, making 22 saves on 26 shots, while Brad Nyen played the second half, stopping 23 of the 27 shots he faced.

The Legionnaires will continue their exhibition schedule Saturday night, when they pay a visit to Notre Dame and battle the Hounds.

Swift Current's regular season will begin September 24th in Saskatoon.
