A seven goal performance proved to be just what the doctor ordered for the Home Hardware Midget 'AAA' Legionnaires.

Ethan Regnier, Hunter Lamb and Zach Zielger had big nights at the Credit Union iPlex Tuesday night as they led the Legionnaires to a 7-1 upset of the league leading Moose Jaw Generals.

Regnier and Lamb each finished the game with a goal and four assists, while Zielger tallied a pair of goals and a pair of assists, as the three players combined for 14 points.

Early penalty trouble for the Generals gave Swift Current a golden opportunity to jump in front, and they took full advantage.

Moose Jaw took three penalties within the first nine minutes of the contest, and the Legionniares made them pay, scoring on all three opportunites for an early 3-0 lead.

Lamb fired home the first goal, while Ziegler scored the next two.

Still up by three with the opening frame winding down, Jacob Piller netted his fifth goal of the season to put Swift Current up 4-0 after one.

In the second period it was more of the same as the Legionnaires kept the pressure on.

Regnier scored his team leading 12 goal of the season, extending the Swift Current lead to 5-0, which soon after became 6-0 when Christian Reimer joined in on the goal scoring parade.

Midway through the thirds, the Generals scored their only goal of the game, but Owen Ozar restored the six goal lead for the Legionnaires with 6:43 remaining in the contest.

Starting goalie for the Legionnaires, Cody Levesque stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced in the victory.

Meanwhile, getting the start in goal for Moose Jaw, Matt Lenz was chased from the game just over nine minutes into the first period.

With the victory, the Legionnaires currently sit in sole possession of the eigth and final playoff spot in the Saskatchewan Midget 'AAA' Hockey League.

Swift Current will resume their schedule on Friday with a home date against the Notre Dame Hounds.
