Swift Current Broncos defenceman Artyom Minulin is getting a chance to showcase himself on a big stage.

He's been added to Team Russia for the CIBC Canada Russia Series this month.

"I'm so excited to be a part of the national team," Minulin said. "I will try and make the World Junior team. We have a real good coach and team. Everyone dreams of playing for the national team."

In what is often seen as a showcase of World Junior eligible talent, Russia will play six games against Under 20 All-Stars from the WHL, OHL and QMJHL.

Minulin believes he will only be playing in two of the six games in the series when Russia plays the WHL on November 7th and 8th.

The 18-year-old is off to a great start with 16 points in 15 games for the Broncos this season. That has him tied for third among WHL defencemen.

He had 33 points in 72 games as a rookie.

"I think I'm real good right now moving the puck," Minulin said. "Much better than my first year. Maybe skating a little bit better than my first year."

At 6'2, 200lbs Minulin plays a strong two-way game and is listed as a 'B' ranked prospect by NHL Central Scouting for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Minulin and the Broncos host Edmonton on Wednesday night at the Credit Union iPlex.
