The Regina Pats showed why they are they top team in the Canadian Hockey League on Friday night with an 8-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos.

Dawson Leedahl, Nick Henry and Connor  Hobbs all scored twice to carry Regina to the win.

Leedahl added three assists and has been very impressive in two games against Swift Current.

The Broncos kept it close early and a tough break on a pass behind their net that hit a skate and bounced off the back of goaltender Taz Burman's pads started the trend of a night where nothing went right for Swift Current.

Kaden Elder had the lone goal for the Broncos on a nice feed by Aleksi Heponiemi as they went 1 for 4 on the man advantage.

Burman was pulled from the game early in the second when the Pats got up 4-1. They continued to pile in with four more goals on Travis Child in the third period.

The Broncos won't have long to think about the loss as they host Lethbridge on Saturday night at the Credit Union iPlex.

The Hurricanes are one of the hottest teams in the WHL at the moment and coming off a 3-2 win over the Central Division leading Medicine Hat Tigers.

They beat the Broncos 4-3 in a tight game in Lethbridge two weeks ago.
