The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats dropped a pair of close contests this past weekend, in a home-and-home series with the Norte Dame Hounds.

Saturday nights game saw the Hounds jump out to a 2-0 lead, before the Diamond Energy Wildcats stormed back with three goals of their own and held a 3-2 lead heading into the third period. In the final frame the Hounds scored with 4:10 seconds left to tie it before Raine Smith potted the game winner with 29 seconds to go. Claire Nimegeers added an empty netter for the Hounds to secure a 5-3.

The two teams met again Sunday afternoon in Swift Current. The teams exchanged goals in the first period and headed into the second tied a 1-1. Where the Hounds scored two unanswered goals, before Taylor Lind scored for Diamond Energy Wildcats cutting the defict to 3-2. In the third frame Taylor Kirwin scored with 5:42 remaining to send the game to overtime. Portia Eldaun would net the game winner for the Hounds 2:33 into the extra frame.

Taylor Lind picked up two goals and recorded an assist for the Diamond Energy Wildcats weekend matchup, pushing her league lead in points to to 27 and league lead in goals to 18.

With the two losses the (6-5-4) Diamond Energy Wildcats sit forth in league standings with 22 points. Their next game is in Swift current as they will welcome the third place Melville Prairie Fire to town.
