Election Day is on Monday, but already, voters have begun casting their ballots in advance polls this week.

The Swift Current Returning Office has reported that over 540 people have voted in the constituency's two advance polls over the first two days. Local returning officer Beryl Robinson says there have been long lines within the first hour of the polls opening each day, but they tend to thin out by suppertime, and voters have been able to proceed straight to the voting booth.

Advance polls continue through the rest of the week, and are open from 3:00pm to 10:00pm today and tomorrow, and from noon to 7:00pm on Saturday.

Robinson adds to vote in the advance polls, or on Election Day, you need to bring your ID and the voter ID card that you received when you were enumerated. That card also has the location where you vote, or you can look that up on the Elections Saskatchewan website.

Advance polls across the province have also been very busy, with Elections Saskatchewan reporting on Twitter that close to 16,000 voted in the first day of advance polls on Tuesday, which is up from 2007 where the average daily advance polling was just over 9900.

Election officials are also sending more staff to help deal with the long line-ups at the polls, and are also advising voters that advance polls are primarily for people who won't be able to vote on election day, or who need more help getting to the polls.
