Residents of Swift Current and the surrounding area are coming together in support of a local family, after the death of a Swift Current couple.

Les and Sharee Oman were involved in a single car crash in northern Missouri; a crash that claimed both of their lives.

In the wake of the incident, outreach and support for the family has been widespread.

Devon Oman, the youngest son of Les and Sharee, was overwhelmed with the messages of everyone impacted by his parents.

"They seemed to impact a lot of peoples' lives. I got a lot of messages, and some from people I don't even really know. They just said that our parents made a huge impact on their lives. They were great people," said Devon.

The oldest son, Damien Oman, also spoke on his parents' take on life, and how it has helped Devon and him through a difficult time such as this.

"Be kind to everybody and don't hold grudges. Don't be negative, be positive in everything. Even in this situation too, there are positives. Everybody who has reached out and contacted us, like childhood friends who I lost contact with, just got back to me today. It was really nice to experience that," Damien said.

Damien and Devon also spoke on their parents' love spreading past family and friends.

"Our parents helped out a lot. They supported animal shelters like the SPCA, and they really loved animals," they said.

That same love and compassion continued to shine through right up until the very end.

"Mom was killed on impact but my dad was still alive, and from what we have heard from a very nice person who got in contact with my cousin, they told her this story which she forwarded it to us," Damien said.

"My dad was still alive and he was saying goodbye to my mom in his final breaths. I don't know what happened after that, but he must of passed too."

The Oman family suggests the SPCA as an organization their parents would love donations to go to, on their behalf.
