A new face finds himself on City Council after last night's municipal election.

Bruce Deg was elected with the 4th most votes by a City Councillor, with a total of 1964.

Deg explains he's excited to start his first term, and speaks on the continuity in council.

"I think the campaign went well. There were a few of us who wanted to keep the city moving in the right direction and the residents agree with it.

The four incumbents are on the new council - that shows the direction the city and its residents want to go. I'm glad to be part of that," he said.

Deg is joined by another new member, Chris Martens. The four incumbents mentioned are Ryan Plewis, Pat Friesen, Ron Toles, and George Bowditch.

Denis Perrault has been elected Mayor of Swift Current as well.

The new Mayor and Council will be officially sworn in on November 7th when the group takes to Council Chambers for their first council meeting of the term.
