The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Radiothon is back for 2016.

The Radiothon starts today at 1:00pm and runs until Friday at 5:00pm.

Clay Thompson, Executive Director of the Healthcare Foundation, discusses fundraising goals for the Radiothon.

"Every year when we make plans for Radiothon, we figure we should be able to gather between $125,000 and $150,000, that will be our goal this year.

The three pieces of equipment that we need are right in that range in terms of combined cost.

When you do the arithmetic, there are 50,000 people in the Southwest, if we could get everybody to phone in with a three dollar pledge we would be laughing," he said.

Thompson discusses where this year's donations will be headed.

"Our goal in mind for the year is that we want to re-outfit the operating theatres at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

They need some new equipment up there and we want to make sure it stays fresh, new and ready to provide service to the Southwest."

Along with new operating room tables, a defibrillator is on the list of equipment they hope to purchase after the Radiothon.

The foundation hopes new operating tables will improve efficiency in the Operating Room and cut back the time spent on operations.
