The new Guiding Unit in Shaunavon is all set to start up next month.

There are currently 15-20 girls registered for the Program.

Organizer, Brenda Waldron says they will meet in the basement of the Shaunavon Alliance Church beginning Tuesday October 4th at six thirty p.m.

Waldron says Guides is a great way for girls ages five years and up to learn life and social skills, as well as leadership and personal goal setting, as well as the fun stuff like camping and crafts.

She adds they are always looking for volunteers to help out. "No special training. But they do need to be screened. It's all done online through the Girl Guide Program. Actually, any parent that is going to help out with crafts or go camping or anything else, they have to be screened. Absolutely everybody that's going to work with the girls has to be screened."

Cost per girl is $135.00, plus the cost of the uniform.

You can register your child for the Guiding Program at the Fall and Winter Registration Night September 8th at the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Center in Shaunavon.
