February is right around the corner, which is a reminder to keep yourself heart healthy as it is Heart Month.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation uses the month of February every year to help raise awareness and funds for their cause, and to help Canadians learn about their own heart health.

"We have a number of door-to-door volunteers that will be coming and knocking on the doors and asking for support for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the work that we do, and there are also many activities that are happening during the month of February in support of Heart Month as well," said Karla Rempel with the Foundation. "We just really use that time to promote heart health so that people become more aware of how important it is to take care of their heart, and to make decisions that are going to make sure that their hearts last them a lifetime."

Rempel adds through the month, a number of events are planned in Swift Current to promote heart health.

"There are a number of businesses in Swift Current that are participating in 'Wear What You Love' or selling red hearts," she added. "There's several others that we're still working on, but one of the events that we have confirmed is the 3rd annual Mark Whalen memorial 'Have a Heart' steak night on February 12th."
