The race for Mayor in this year's election didn't heat up until the deadline for submission.

Wednesday afternoon at 4pm saw Denis Perrault joined by two other candidates.

Among them was Kathy Fraser, the Kitchen Manager at Soup N' Such Cafe and Catering in Downtown Swift Current.

Fraser explains that a candidate profile will be available shortly.

"First of all, I'm not a politician and I have to say it's an honour and privilege to run for the Mayor of Swift Current.

I'll be submitting a profile for the City of Swift Current's website, which the people will be able to access shortly," she said.

The Mayoral candidate also explains how she grew to love the city after moving out here from British Columbia.

"I saw the beauty of the parks and the city - the peacefulness of it - then I started to meet the people and how wonderful and generous they are.

I knew I wanted to unpack my bags here and just enjoy the whole atmosphere - It's a beautiful city," she said

The Mayoral candidate's platform focuses on debt reduction, which she says she feels is important to address.
