For the past two weeks Great Plains College has been dealing with the departure of their President and CEO David Francis.

In his place, Bruce Probert has been named interim President and CEO. It's a familiar role for him, as he served as President and CEO of the College in the past, and has also served as the Vice-President.

Probert says the operation of the College will continue normally: "Mostly we plan to stay the course, Great Plains is a great college. We intend to be responsive to employers and students, meeting those employment needs of the entire southwest region."

He adds an ongoing challenge with colleges is finding enough funding to offer enough training, and believes that Great Plains College meets that challenge, saying the staff at the college are terrific, and that from his standpoint, there's not a lot to do but keep a hand on the rudder.

Probert will not be involved in the hiring process of his replacement, as that will be up to the Board of Governors of Great Plains College.
