An open house in Swift Current Tuesday allowed the public to learn more about the preferred routes of two proposed SaskPower transmission lines in the southwest.

The lines will run from the city to the Piapot and Shaunavon areas, where they will serve two pumping stations for the proposed Keystone X-L Pipeline.

Bernie Bolen, Environmental Issues Management Supervisor for the Crown Utility, says their schedule for the lines is planned to coincide with TransCanada's schedule for the pipeline.

“It actually worked out well, In that Keystone were looking for additional capacity for their two pumping stations. SaskPower is also looking to upgrade the overall infrastructure in this area west of Swift Current. Obviously the TCC projects have been delayed somewhat, so our project is delayed a bit but were still keeping both of those objectives in mind.”

Two more open houses are set for today at the Gull Lake Hall and tomorrow at the Shaunavon Legion Hall, from noon to 7:00pm each day.
