With a flurry of activity in the final week to submit candidacy for Swift Current city council, Dwayne Gordon Collier a local business owner has added his name to the ballot.

Collier is the owner of Gordon's Light Delivery, a service that has existed in the Swift Current area for over 47 years.

He believes the city council could benefit from an outside voice.

"There are a lot of concerns going on, as far as our expenses and our debt load, and few of our other projects that are ongoing. I just thought I'd get involved so that our (city) projects in the future, at least (some) input coming from outside of city council," Collier said.

After traveling the world for 25 years, Collier believes he's fund his home.

"We came back and raised our kids here, and we felt this was going to be a place we were going stay. Our kids are still here," said Collier "We wanted a place that convent, safe and a nice place to live."

With the October 26th vote fast approaching, the 18 candidates for city council will meet at the Living Sky's Centre for an all-candidates forum in early October.
