Canadian Western Agribition has announced the 2017 Scholarship winners.

The $2500 CWA Scholarships are given to students with a history of involvement in Agribition as exhibitors, volunteers or competitors pursuing post-secondary education.

This year’s award winners are Evan Sebastian of Montmarte, Sadie Anwender of Radville and Grayson Berting of Middle Lake.

Sadie Anwender is the third generation of her family to be involved in Agribition and is looking forward to pursuing Marketing next fall in the Hill School of Business at the U of R. She says her family run two purebred operations – Shorthorn and Simmental.

"It means a great deal to me to be awarded a scholarship from such a prestigious show that my family has taken part in for many years," she said. "I'm the third generation to take part in the show, so it really means a lot to me. To see Agribition give back through things like scholarships to the youth (is great)."

Grayson Berting of Middle Lake is in the third year of her Commerce degree and is pleased to be recognized for her involvement.  She says her family has been coming to Agribition for years.  Noting they raise Black Angus and Speckle Park.

Berting is involved in showing cattle as well as volunteering in other areas.

"We raise a herd of purebred black Angus and registered speckle park cattle and we have 11 speckle parks here to show," she said. "I also volunteer for the national 4-H judging on Monday's as a handler for the cattle and I announce the short-term show on Friday's for the last two years and I'm doing it again this year."

Shelby Evans at Kenaston won the $1500 Barry Andrew Family Scholarship while Macy Leibreich of Radville won the $1500 William M. Farley Memorial Scholarship.
