CIGI


The Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority would like to see the Canadian International Grains Institute move west.

The group made the suggestion about relocating to Saskatoon during a recent visit to CIGI’s head office in Winnipeg.

Rex Newkirk is CIGI's Director of Research and Business Development says Saskatoon has some great agricultural synergy’s as well.



Newkirk says it’s an interesting idea but stresses no decision has been made.

Mayor Don Atchinson says the city would welcome the facility:



CIGI's role is to educate international customers on how to use Canadian field crops, and to research new ways of utilizing those crops.

They have been based in Winnipeg for the last 40 years.
