Farmers are busy putting this year's crop in the ground.

Meantime, legislation focused on transportation and getting that crop to market continues to travel back and forth between the Senate and the House of Commons.

On Thursday, The House of Commons passed Transport Minister Marc Garneau’s motion to accept 10 of the Senate’s 19 amendments to Bill C-49 - the Transportation Modernization Act sending the bill back to the Senate for approval.

A Conservative motion that was brought forward to accept all the Senate’s amendments and send the bill to Royal Assent was defeated.

Some of the farm groups are frustrated with all of the delays and would like the legislation in place for the start of the new crop year on August 1st.

Once again the clock is ticking with the House of Commons currently scheduled to adjourn for their summer break June 22, while the Senate’s last day is currently set for June 29.
