The nice weather we have seen has had some farmers thinking more and more about seeding.

Ralph Howes, Farm Management Specialist with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, is reminding farmers that their Crop Planning Guides are now available on the Ministry's website.

“Farmers are making decisions as to what to grow and this provides some average projections for cost of production for the principle crops and even specialty crops grown in the province.”

Howes adds that along with the guides, there is also a Crop Planner that lets farmers to draw up their own scenarios by entering input costs and yield expectations.

“This allows them to do break even scenarios and the crop planner saves them a lot on projections through computerized form.”

Both the Crop Planning Guides and the Crop Planner are available on the Ministry of Agriculture's website.
