The future of the Canadian Wheat Board will depend on whether farmers see value in the CWB’s programs.

That’s according to the Board's Vice President of Marketing Gord Flaten.

He says rather than trying to figure out if the board can survive without the single desk, producers should consider the current situation.



He adds past discussions about the CWB surviving without the single desk did not take into account the significant capital base, financial guarantees and general level of support from the federal government that the new CWB is starting with.
