There was a good turnout last night in Kindersley for the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association fall district meeting.

Over the next week, the SCA is holding its annual meetings around the province.

Producers had a chance to cast their vote last night for the District Chair with two names to consider Paula Larson and Garret Poletz of Rosetown.

Incumbent Paula Larson a producer from D’Arcy was re-elected.

“There was a very good turnout we had a lot of information for the people who could stay. There were people that actually came in, got off the combine, hay truck and drove into Kindersley to vote and had to leave. There was some that stayed for our information package which is so important and I’m very thankful for all of that.”

She notes there was some interest in the new CAP program as far as what funding is available for on-farm or pasture projects and how to access it.

“We had a local farmer just say quickly how he was able to access something out of that and how easy it was for him. How thankful he was that program was there, also there was stuff there he was able to look at that would benefit the RM.”

Tonight’s SCA meetings are set for District 4 at the Piapot Legion Hall, and District 9A in the North in Prince Albert. Wednesday’s meetings are set for District 3B in Swift Current and Melfort at the Kerry Vickers Centre with the CAP Program discussion beginning at 5 pm.
