A number of farmers have received notice for a durum bin audit.

The role of the audit is to help detect farmers who have been inflating their durum contract sign up, which could result in more delivery opportunities when the grain is called.

The audit is being done for the Canadian Wheat Board by Provincial Crop Insurance Adjusters.

Gary Pichlyk the Board’s Senior Manager for Farmer Services says so far they have had done about 650 audits and out of that about 5% have failed the audit.

Farmers who fail the audit will be billed for it’s cost about $300 and will be charged an extra $6 per tonne for any tonnage that was inflated on their contract.
