Swift Current Ag and Ex had a busy weekend with the Exotic Bird and Animal Show and Sale, and a number of people were on hand buying everything from exotic chickens and ducks, to rabbits and more.

On Friday, area school children had an opportunity to come out and learn more about the farm, while Saturday was the actual Show and Sale.

Glenda Allan with Gramma Zoo Exotics at Cantaur brought in her miniature Zebu cattle, which can range up to 42 inches in height with mature animals weighing anywhere from 300 to 600 pounds:

"They're not like an angus or a hereford bred down, they are true miniature that originated from India," Allan said. "My cows are all foundation pure, and I know of only one other breeder in Canada that has foundation pure stock that's registered with the International Minature Zebu Association."

She says in some areas, in order to be classified a farm you have to have livestock, and people have found these animals will qualify. She added the animals are also popular for Junior Rodeo, the animals are extremely cute, and finds them a welcome addition to her own farm, saying her grandchildren really enjoy them.
