The momentum continues to build with over 13 thousand people now signed on to the Facebook group Farmers Against Rural Crime.

Organizer Nick Cornea is pleased with the response with individuals sharing their stories, and talking about security measures.

People in rural areas have been raising the issue of response time and the number of officers available to cover some of these areas.

"We can't really blame the RCMP. They're the torchbearers of the law, and they just have to enforce it. If we want change we need to go higher up," he said. "We need to start with our municipalities, our MLA's, and MP's and climb that latter and that's what Farmers Against Rural Crime is working to do."

Cornea met with the Staff Sargent from the RCMP at Moose Jaw and the South East Management Team Leader out of Regina.

He notes it’s extremely important that landowners contact the RCMP to report all incidents:

"Take the time to phone in and leave a message or phone 310 RCMP. That goes right to the Regina dispatch. That's your best bet to have a case file started and people to know what's going on, because if we don't make the claims and to the RCMP their stats aren't correct, so they can't properly disperse where they need their RCMP officers in the province."

RCMP Community Meetings were held this week in Kyle and Humboldt as well as other areas.

Cornea is encouraging rural landowners to continue taking part in the RCMP Community Meetings, so everyone has a clear understanding of the issues and their rights.
