Farmers who have long fought for marketing freedom were recognized yesterday on a farm near Lethbridge for their efforts in bringing about change. It was back in 1996 when 13 farmers were jailed for breaking the Canada Customs Act by selling their grain privately into the United States.

David Anderson, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Canadian Wheat Board says the move to marketing freedom has been long overdue.

Jim Chatney was one of the 13 farmers jailed in 1996 and is pleased to see the Harper Governments commitment to marketing freedom.
