Agriculture in the Classroom - Saskatchewan is opening its doors to Farmers during Ag Literacy Month in March.

Tamara Wolfe is an Ag Awareness Intern with the Ministry of Agriculture and says their looking for farmers and ranchers who would be interested in sharing their story with local students.

“If youth have a positive perspective of agriculture then they’ll continue to have trust in the food that they eat.”

She notes more and more youth are further removed from the farm and this is a great way for them to connect to Agriculture.

“This is an opportunity for farmers and ranchers to get into the classroom, to meet the students, to talk to them about their food, to put a face to the food we eat. To talk to them about agriculture past, present and our future and to answer all sorts of questions that students have about our industry.”

She says producers interested in helping our youth get a better understanding of agriculture should sign up through the Agriculture in the Classroom website.

Farmers and Ranchers interested in signing up for school can do so here.
