Farmers' opinions on which company will do the best job marketing their wheat are starting to become clear.

Blacksheep Strategy, based in Winnipeg, surveyed producers about the changes to wheat marketing back in January, and again in April, after the proposed sale of Viterra was announced.

Strategist Joanna Karman explains in January, 37% of farmers were unsure which company would do the best job while in April the number dropped to 29%.

"That may have been a reflection of some of the marketplace activity that we saw that has been going on," Karman said. "Farmers told us a little about the companies that were already contacting them about contracting opportunities, so there was quite a lot of people who have already been contacted by more than one organization."

She notes between January and April, confidence grew significantly in two organizations: the new CWB and Richardson Pioneer.
