The lineup of steers for Sunday's 4-H sale at Frontier Days

Cattle producers brought the best of their herd to town for Frontier Days.

Taking home the Purebed Championship banners this year:

Rocking G Land and Cattle Company from Gull Lake for the Grand Champion Horned Hereford Bull and Female. Courtney Cochrane of Moose Jaw had the Reserve Grand Champion Female. The Polled Hereford Grand Champion Female was shown by Mikayla Blaschuk of Chaplin.

Forsyth Ranch at Herbert showed the Grand Champion Black Angus Bull, Ty Schwan of Swift Current had the Reserve Grand Champion while Wyatt Burnett of Swift Current showed the Grand Champion Black Angus Female with Coy Gibson and Eric Smith of Fir Mountain with the Reserve Grand Champion Black Angus Female.

In the Red Angus Class, Wood Coulee Cattle of Swift Current showed the Grand Champion Bull and Reserve Grand Champion Bull while Grand Champion Female and Reserve Grand Champion Female went to Blakes Red Angus of Mccord.

The Grand Champion Charolais Female was shown by Wood River Charolais of Mccord. The Grand Champion Simmental Female was shown by Devan Cochrane of Moose Jaw. The Grand Champion Limosine Female was shown by Brady Scott of Eastend.

Wood Coulee Cattle at Swift Current had a good showing at Frontier Days winning the All Breeds Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Bull. Wyatt Burnett of Swift Current had the All Breeds Grand Champion Female with the Reserve being shown by Ryan Campbell. Campbell also showed the Grand Champion Jackpot Steer, while Boone Cornelson showed the Reserve Grand Champion Steer.

The Grand Champion Jackpot Heifer was shown by Ty Schwan, with the Reserve Grand Champion Jackpot Heifer being shown by Coy Gibson.

There was also some good competition for the Frontier Days Female Pen Show. Blake's Red Angus of McCord showed the top ranking Pen of 3 Bred Heifers born in 2013, and Crocus Simmentals of Swift Current had the top Cow with a Bull Calf while Cactus Ridge Red Angus won first place with their pen of a Cow with a Heifer Calf.

The 4-H Heifer Show saw Payton Schwan from Grazers 4H winning the Grand Champion Heifer over all breeds with a Black Angus. Wyatt Ching of Rockglen won the Reserve Grand Champion Heifer with his Charolais heifer, and the Supreme Champion 4H Female was shown by Payton Schwan for her two year old Futurity and a Hereford Champion

The Champion Light Steer was a Maine Anjou shown by Emma Thomason from the Burnham Club while the Reserve title was won by Kyle Wall, the Champion Intermediate Steer was won by Eric Smith of Mankota with the Reserve Banner going to Jaelynn Tschetter of Waldeck.

Sunday was a big day for the 4-Hers with the biggest highlight being the 4-H Steer Show and Sale, where 136 steers were sold with an average price of $2.52 per pound. The Grand Champion Steer was an Angus shown by Boone Cornelson from the Herbert Grazers and sold for $3.00/pound to Wiwa Creek Ranch at Rush Lake. The Reserve Champion Steer was a Charolais shown by Josie Rampton from the Herbert Grazers, and it sold for $ 2.80/pound to Bob Schwatsky, and the Highest Steer was sold by Kaylin Poirier from Mankota 4-H Club for $5202.00 to Provincial Airways of Moose Jaw.
