Despite some rain showers Saskatchewan farmers are making good progress with the harvest.

Provincially about 21% of the 2011 crop is in the bin

Cropping Management Specialist Grant McLean says here in the Southwest that number jumps up to 37% complete with the harvest going well:



In the Southwest.. 37% of the 2011 crop has been combined with 16% swathed or ready to straight-cut. 

This weeks report shows 86% of the winter wheat is done with yields around 40 bu/ac, 79 of the fall rye is in and yielding about 41 bu/ac, 14 of the spring wheat has been combined with yields around 31 bu/ac, 15% of the durum at 33 bu/ac, 22% of the oats running at 49 bu/ac, 28% of barley at 48 bu/ac, 77% of the lentils are done with yields around 1350 lb/ac, 80% of the peas are in at 29 bu/ac, 52% of the canola running at 28 bu/ac and 21% of the mustard is done at 1022 lb/ac.
