Harvest for Kids 2012 is hoping October 6th will be a record setting day in Saskatchewan.

The group is looking to have more than 200 combines involved in taking off an oat crop on a section of land 20 kilometres north of Saskatoon. If they're successful, it would break the Guinness World Record set two years ago in Winkler, Manitoba.

"It would probably look a little similar, hopefully more combines on the field, and at the same time, there's this 'Rider Pride' sitting in Saskatchewan that's evident," said Derek Unrau with Harvest for Kids. "It's exciting to see the involevemnt of so many people already.

The oats will be planted on Chad Doerksen's land, and he says any farmer can be involved in the record breaking effort.

"We don't want people to feel like they can't be involved because they have a smaller or older combine," Doerksen said. "We're looking at 22 to 25-foot swaths, and we're looking at everybody being involved and most combines will be able to handle that."

The fundraising event is for Children's Camps International, which sends kids in developing countries to summer camp.
