If you took in Canada's Farm Progress Show last month, chances are you checked out the Dot autonomous tractor demonstration.

Norbert Beaujot is President of DOT Technology Corporation and says they’ve seen lots of interest in the technology.

“There’s tons of interest all around the world.  It’s been a very busy year, by its release anniversary at Ag In Motion we’ll have a few more machines out there.  We’ll be demoing autonomous seeding and autonomous spraying. The sprayer is not ours, it was developed by Pattison. It looks really good and a nice match for DOT.”

Beaujot says they are in the process of building six more autonomous DOT tractor units.

“We are waiting for the software to finish the first ones.  The autonomous software is being done by RAVEN. Of the batch of six that we’re building right now, we’ll have two or three of them ready in the next month.  And we’re doing a lot more testing with these six.”

He notes the technology is ready, and farmers are ready for it.

DOT already has a number of deposits from farmers in Western Canada and around the world, to purchase the autonomous DOT technology and use it on their farming operation.

The Provincial Government recently announced $230 thousand dollars in research funding for the autonomous tractor to help develop computer programming.

The Government funding will be provided over two years, through Innovation Saskatchewan's Saskatchewan Advantage Innovation Fund.
