Agriculture is one of the most dangerous occupations there is.

Jaycee Peutert is a Farm Management Extension Specialist with the Ministry of Saskatchewan and says, unfortunately, the stats back that up.

"Actually on average thirteen people are killed each year on Saskatchewan farms and about 75% of those fatalities involve farm machinery and occur in the farmyard.”

Provincial Agriculture Minister David Marit says self-care is a vital piece of farm safety.

He notes this week serves as an important reminder to take care of ourselves by getting adequate rest, taking breaks and being aware of dangerous areas where we work.
