The Federal Government has indicated it would like K-V-D removed as a registration and segregation tool for all classes of Western Canadian Wheat by 2010.

Earl Geddes, Vice President of Product Development at the Canadian Wheat Board, says the potential deadline is relatively tight to meet.

He notes at least it acknowledges the significant issues which need to be overcome before     K-V-D is removed from C-W-R-S.

The Canadian Grain Commission has announced it will remove K-V-D from the six minor classes of wheat August 1st, 2008.

Geddes says the grain handling industry has expressed some concern over being ready for that date.

He feels there's no reason why they can't, but it will take a lot of hard work to meet the deadline.
