A local producer-owned terminal is the latest grain handler to give farmers the opportunity to sell their grain through the new CWB. South West Terminal out of Gull Lake entered into a new agreement with CWB, which will give producers the option to access the board's pooling and cash contract programs, or sell directly to the terminal.

General Manager Monty Reich says they felt it was important to team up with CWB in the transition to an open market, “There were many producers that were concerned of the wheat board losing the monoply and with us having now that option for producers to sell to the wheat board and specifically to use their pooling options we felt it was important that we had those options for our producers.”

Reich said this agreement will offer more options for producers, “Over the years producers have been wanting more marketing options. This will allow producers to sell cash or defer direct to South West Terminal or if they prefer to use the new Canadian Wheat Board they can use their pooling options or their cash or their deferred options as well.”

The announcement was made yesterday, the same day CWB announced their new post-single-desk pricing programs.
