There was a key announcement today for livestock producers who are dealing with the continued impact of drought.

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced $114 million in funding through the Agri-Recovery Program.

He says the money will be delivered through the 2010 Pasture Recovery Initiative.  "These funds will help cattle producers, as well as the full gamut of other livestock producers, in central and northern Alberta and west-central Saskatchewan, buy feed and keep their animals off damaged pasture while that grass recovers."

In Sasktachewan, eligible producers can pick up applications at their local RM office, Saskatchewan Agriculture Regional office, or Crop Insurance office.  Application forms are also available online at www.agriculture.gov.sk.ca .

The deadline to apply is September 1st.
