The province has released the results of that independent review into the sale of Viterra.

Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud says the Informa Economics report highlighted some definite positives for the province.

"Glencore's ability around the world, where they already have infrastructure and they have offices, would really help market our products here," explains Bjornerud. "So, that's a plus that I hadn't considered before. Some other things that Glencore has talked about doing that's positive is where they put dollars into research like Viterra did but increasing those dollars, and also having their headquarters in Regina."

In the provinces report to Industry Canada, it calls on the federal government to push Glencore for assurances that it will live up to its initial proposals.

Industry Canada is expected to make a decision on the initial sale by the end of this week. Once that is done, there will be reviews on Glencore's sale of Viterra assets to Agrium and Richardson.
