Agriculture Minister David Marit is promoting Saskatchewan’s Agriculture and Agri-Food Sector this week in Mexico.

“It makes sense to do business with a market so easily accessible and free of duties and tariffs.”

Marit says Mexico is one of our largest trading partners.

“Mexico is our fourth largest market for agri-food here in the Province of Saskatchewan; 2018 we were well over $700 million that we did with them.”

Stats show that over 89% of the Province’s Agri-Food exports go to Mexico, with Saskatchewan accounting for almost 40% of Canada’s exports to that country.

The trip will help position Saskatchewan as a reliable and quality supplier of food, feed, pet food ingredients and cattle genetics.

The Mexico Trade mission will also promote research, investment and other collaborative opportunities in Saskatchewan's value-added sector.

The six-day mission ends on Saturday and will highlight Saskatchewan's canola, wheat and cattle sectors.

Joining Marit on the trip are representatives from the Canadian Western Agribition and the Canola Council of Canada.
