Have you ever wondered how the Provincial Crop Report is put together and how they get their information?

Well, now you can play an active role in the process.

Shannon Friesen is a Crop Specialist with Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

She says right now they are looking for people to fill 100 open RM Crop Reporter positions.

She says the volunteers help the ag sector know what’s really going on out in the field.

"Some producers and agrologist will actually base it on there local area, some will talk to other producers in the area, and what they do is actually fill out that information ranging from how much rainfall they got that week, what are

seeding conditions like, how much progress has been made, how much drop is left in the field, etc."

She says crop reporters would report to the ministry once a week by answering a questionnaire.

Those interested can contact their rural service centre or the Ag Knowledge Centre in Moose Jaw at 866-457-2377.
