Rain is in the forecast for much of the Province this week.

World Weather Agri-Meteorologist Drew Lerner says farmers will want to get as much crop in the bin as possible – especially anything that’s lying in the swath.

He says a rain system is expected to settle into the southern part of the province later this week bringing some much-needed moisture.

"Probably Thursday into Saturday will be the time period we will see the most of the precipitation evolve," he said. "This will come northeastward out of Montana. Generalized rain will likely occur in the southern two-thirds of Saskatchewan and we will expect to see moisture totals from around 8-30 millimetres. There is a possibility of more in some locations."

It’s been weeks, even months since any significant moisture has fallen in the southern half of the province.

He says once the system moves thru we could see some frost.

"You may experience a little frost and freeze across parts of the region," he said. "However there will be another disturbance coming in for early to mid-week next week that might help keep the temperatures up enough to prevent frost and freezes from occurring until after the second storm system pushes across the region. If that happens it will be the latter part of next week before we see hard freezes in the area."

He notes we should drift back into another warmer and dryer bias, but notes temperatures around the plus 30 mark will be less likely going forward.
