The Provincial and Federal governments have announced a record 8.3 million dollars in funding for crop-related research.

Thirty-four projects will receive this funding from the Saskatchewan Agriculture Development Fund, which includes research on improving yields and disease resistance in wheat, barley and flax, and increasing the size of the flax seed to improve yields.

Provincial Ag Minister Bob Bjornerud says as the world population grows, research is becoming more important than ever, and this funding will support projects that will ultimately create long-term benefits for producers.
