Ritz Addresses Farmers At Wheat Growers Convention

There wasn't an empty seat in the house today, as Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz addressed an enthusiastic audience at the Wheat Growers 42nd annual Convention at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa.

Ritz said throughout the presentation that they want the CWB to play a role as a viable option, but also made it clear that they will not back down from the upholding of Bill C-18.

Ritz added that he doesn't see any validity for an injunction to slow this down and that farmers need to get those contracts sent in to show that producers have embraced it.

Farmers have been given the freedom to buy and sell their wheat and barley from who they so choose as of August  1st 2012.
