Thunder Creek MLA Lyle Stewart is Saskatchewan’s new Minister of Agriculture.

Stewart said the Agriculture Ministry is a key part of Saskatchewan’s economy and he wants to see it continue to grow.

"In an industry like agriculture, where last year we exported $10.1 billion worth of produce, I think if we can value add to even a small percentage of that, it makes a huge difference to the economy of Saskatchewan and the industries," said Stewart.

Stewart, a farmer from the Pense area, is very comfortable moving into the new role having served as Agriculture Critic in the past.

His first official duty will be to give the opening address at the 99th Annual Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association Convention today.
